The Illinois Bankers Association (IBA) is proud to announce Van Dukeman, Chairman and CEO of Busey Bank, as the 2025 Illinois Banker of the Year. This award is the highest individual honor presented by the IBA, recognizing a distinguished leader whose professional excellence, vision, and dedication have made a profound impact on the banking industry and their community. Randy Hultgren, IBA President and CEO, presented the award to Van at our Annual Conference on June 24 at the Grand Geneva Resort in Lake Geneva, WI.

Van’s banking journey is a story of perseverance, innovation, and service. It began humbly, working night shifts at the University of Illinois computer center, but has grown into an extraordinary career spanning decades. Today, he leads one of Illinois’ most respected financial institutions with purpose and clarity, navigating an evolving financial landscape while maintaining an unwavering commitment to people and progress.

Under Van’s leadership, Busey Bank has reached significant milestones, including the strategic acquisition of CrossFirst Bank. and being named one of the World’s Best Banks by Forbes. His ability to lead through complex transformation while maintaining a strong culture of excellence has set him apart as a visionary in the industry.
